Red: A Crayons Story

Written by Michael Hall & Illustrated by Michael Hall

Lesson Plan/Discussion Guide

This story is about Red, a blue crayon with a red label. When Red tries to draw things a red crayon would, he isn’t very successful. Every other crayon wonders why he just can’t seem to get things right. When Berry asks if Red can draw her an ocean, everything changes. Red realizes he is really blue and gains acceptance from his community. This story could be used as a metaphor for transgender and/or neurodivergent children.
